EPP

The last round of rosette 1 in the millefiore quilt a long from Katje Marek. I am living the way it looks. Will link with Anthea's EPP.

Anzac day saw me doing the last bits of my candle wicked quilt. Put the outer borders on in the morning and the lace on in the afternoon. All ready for the quilters!

I even mitred both the border and lace corners.... the lace I cheated though and top stitched them down rather than trying a seam. I know what I mean.

Then went on to do some more Dear Jane block... 7 to go and I have done my 5 months worth. Will share later.

April Perpetually hexagon

The next PH block. I am not a fan of green but I am really happy with this block.. maybe because the green is a blue/green. Yes Kris there is some Kaffe Fassett in there.

As I am so enjoying the PH I looked on Katja's web site and she did a millefiore type hexie stitch along. Now I love "La Pass" but I know that with my arthritic fingers I am never going to do it but this one seems a bit more achievable. This is the centre of rosette 1......

.... the next round almost there. The pink rosette on the left in the middle is the one this is going to be. I am using as much of my stash as I can so it may not be as pretty as some but I actually like what I have done so far and think that I will get this done.  Will try and link with Anthea at Hibiscus stitching...

Some secret stitching. Thought this would take a long time but managed it on Saturday afternoon. The idea of what to do was the hardest.

A couple of weeks ago I did a class in Kilmore with Andrea and yesterday I managed to get it all put together. Thank goodness for Easter and a few days to sit and sew. There was a LOT of reverse sewing, 8 new blocks had to be sewn and I was about ready to throw it but as anyone who knows me knows...... I love blue and yellow together and I usually DON'T give up, so this is done, again not as good as it could be but.......finished is better than perfect and I'm sticking to that.

3200 kms later

DH and I have been on an adventure. We left last Tuesday to visit DD2 in Brisbane, driving so we could give her things ( bike, sewing machine etc) that she couldn't take with her on a plane. We arrived at Coonabarabran Tuesday night, visited DD1's in laws in Ballina on Weds night, Thursday we awoke to " severe weather warnings in the Brisbane area." Decided to stay put as it was advised. Left Ballina on Friday only to be turned around at Tweed Heads" sorry Ma'am, no idea when the highway will re open, it's flood water you know" . So when the ABC announced at 2.55 pm on Saturday "the Pacific Highway will open in five minutes we leapt into the car and arrived in Brisbane at 5,30 pm.
This is the extent of the sewing I did....

...lots of this was done...

... and I was so lucky to catch up with Michelle. DD2 lives near a lovely little cafe and we spent 3 hours there chatting , having coffee and eating cake. I did show her my version of Cherries and chocolate  and Michelle very kindly signed the label so this will be one special quilt. Glad that Michelle liked my version as well.  DD2 had to work all the time we were there so only got to see her in the evenings but so glad to see her. Left a fairly sunny Brisbane on Friday and 3200 or so Kms later we arrived back in wet and cold Melbourne on Saturday. It's so good to be home!

These are some of the Dear Jane blocks for April I think... slowly slowly getting through them.

Not a good photo but the papers are cut for the April Katja Marek Perpetually hexie block. Interesting that this block is 6th April as that is the date that three years ago DD2 was given a great gift so we were also there to support her through that day. We dropped some flowers and feathers into the river at Southbank and thought of her donor.

This is the grey quilt that I made for DH's nephew and fiance as a wedding present.
